Press Statement No: 2 - February 21, 2012 »Istanbul, Turkey Proteksan Turquoise, the Turkish shipyard that constructed the 60 metre yacht, MY Yogi, that sank off Skyros, Greece on February 17, wishes to explain that none of their representatives, nor their lawyers, have been able to interview the Captain and crew or obtain their written statements to date and the indications are that it will be a further ten days or so before they will meet with them. The only contact that has been made was when the Captain made a phone call to the shipyard after he had been rescued and was safely ashore on Skyros. It is for this reason that Proteksan Turquoise has not been in a position to release any further statements beyond the one sent out on Friday, February 17, as it feels that it is important to have all the facts relating to the incident before commenting further. Tuesday, 21 February 2012 14:40
Press Statement - February 17, 2012 »Istanbul, Turkey Proteksan Turquoise, builders of the 60 metre MY Yogi, regrets to report that the yacht sank off the coast of the island of Skyros, Greece on the morning of February 17. The yacht had left the shipyard in Turkey, where it had been undergoing some guarantee re-paint work, on February 15th and was on her way to the Mediterranean when it was hit by gale force weather conditions off Skyros. All eight crew members were rescued by a Puma helicopter from the Hellenic Coast Guard and are presently safe on Skyros, where they will stay until being transferred to Athens. It is unclear at the moment as to what caused the vessel to sink and that will not be known until representatives from the shipyard have been able to speak to the Captain and crew, which should take place over the next two days. MY Yogi was built to MCA rules and also to French Registry safety standards and the construction was under ABS surveillance and classification. Proteksan Turquoise Yacht and Ships Inc. - 35,000sq m facility with 120m of dock

In 2005, a company, Proteksan Turquoise Yacht and Ships Inc, fully owned by the partners was founded in the Kocaeli Free Zone with the aim of producing the hulls and superstructures. All of the steel and aluminium work is completed in here in a 35.000 square metre facility with a 120m dock. Currently building 50 to 70m hulls (for both aluminium and steel construction) the yard can build up to 120m.  Once complete the vessels are transferred to the Proteksan Turquoise Shipyard where the fit-out, painting and commissioning is completed prior to delivery.
