Facility
The yard is also very well located and equipped for refit work of all types. Deepwater berths alongside the yard allow easy access and the covered sheds are available for more extensive dry dock needs.
A notable yacht refit visit was Haida G, where other than main engines almost every system was replaced with new piping and cabling. Over 100 tons of steel were replaced and thousands of rivets had to be welded to obtain absolute water tightness, to bring the yacht back into class. In a sympathetic style, for the vessel was built over 75 years ago, traditional davits were designed locally and built in cast steel to house the new hydraulic rotors. Carbon fibre reinforced masts were designed and built to the yachts original dimensions. The vast teak decks were surrounded by new stainless steel guard rails painted to match the originals and a new awning designd to blend with the traditional style, over a new composite central Jacuzzi.
